Excuse to make a hundred more posts...

Some of us would prefer to spread our genius with the eternal power of words. Words once read may never be truly forgotten, unless your reader happens to suffer from CRS.

10. Played any instrument with a screwdriver.

Ok, this one was a cheap shot. To help, I'll give you a bonus one.

10. Played the violin as a drum. That was during a Dream Chemistry rehearsal and I got the most mortified looks from the other violinist. Sacrelege was never so sweet.

11. Spent more time at the library than at the movie theater.

This one may be no longer true... if I was skipping school, you used to be able to find me at the public library. That is beside the fact that for 2 years I worked in the school library. These days though, I need to spend more time there.

12. Been shot at.

This took place, a couple of notable times during the invasion of Iraq. First off, on about our fifth day in country, we unclustered the biggest cluster of a traffic jam in human history, pulled off to the side of the road to sleep (in a little wheel), and never knew that less than a kilometer away, at the only building in sight, were two snipers. Had they decided to fire at us, everyone on the factory side of the vehicles would have died (assuming, good aim and all).

The second time took place at a maintenance company, where we were getting air filters and other things for our HMMHV (High Motorized Mobility Heavy Vehicle - I think). While the hood was up on the thing, and the mechanic and I are stooped over the engine, we start hearing ricochet sounds off of things around us.

The third time that I can recall, was much later, driving in a convoy up to Baghdad (after we took the city). We were driving 'hardened' canvas HMMHVs and had sand bags lining the vehicles (including a row of sandbags in front of the windshield). Sand began to fly erratically out of the sandbags in front of me. We pushed on through whatever kill zone was set up and kept going (of course, calling it in, too - but that was the convoy commander's job).

13. Performed Memorial Day Ceremonies at national cemetaries.

This is one of those rare honors that only a few organizations get to do something with. It's an activity that I hold closely to my heart, because when I pass away, it is one of the honors my service has earned.

Following is a list (of national locales) where I've been a part of rendering honors.

2000 Memorial Day, Normandy Beach National Cemetery, France
2001 Memorial Day, ______ _______ (WWI) National Cemetery, France

I've done dozens of Veterans' Day and Memorial Day ceremonies since, though in the States they've always been at more local venues. I wonder how busy the country will be after Election Day to remember us, who were asked to become Superman for our country and then asked again to be normal, right away.

14. Attended a major sporting event.

Ok... this is one of the easier ones to write about. I'll just use the latest one. I was at the 4th of July game (2008) between the Padres and the Diamondbacks in Phoenix, AZ. You would have to know that I was rooting for the snakes. While "Snakes on a Plane!" became a movie, you can fit a lot more snakes in a stadium. I will not be paying for any damages to your brain by you reading this post.

Hehe... I should continue all of these now...

15. Attended an Opera

Back when I was a street musician, sometimes folks would give me concert tickets (if they were going to try to get a refund of their tickets because they couldn't go to the event, thanks to conflicting schedules or whatever). So, I got into a couple dozen different operas over the years (at no cost) while I was growing up, at the Seattle Opera House (which is no longer used so much, at least not for symphony gigs). Fun times.

I'm trying to figure out what your lists are supposed to be, odd things, or just things done, or things wanting to do, or something entirely random or what?

If it's odd things, I can say that I do have one that might rank up there (and no, it's not rude or offensive, Baph! Imagine that. )

#101 - Catch your parachute on the side of a water tower and have to be rescued by helicopter. (Was too high for the fire brigade's ladder-truck, and too small that they were afraid of me using the inflatable or ready-jump trampoline.)

Oh,and that reminds me of one that happened to my brother:

#102 - Duck hunting via parachute. (Yes, his chute caught three ducks flying by as he was on his way down from 20k ft.) :)

Being an air force brat had it's privileges, and fun times.

Of course, then there's #103 - Never try to get away from MP's with a moon rover. (My brother tried this.) }|=)
